EUROPEAN ROUTE
My trip started in Portugal, with an inaugural dipping of the tires in
the Atlantic ocean.  From there I spent the summer cycling
through the sun-toasted Iberian peninsula, enjoying the barren
Spanish countryside and mountains.  After crossing the highest
pass in the Pyrenees in Andorra, I coasted into France, and lived
for days on tasty baguettes and French cheese (and Parisian
crepes) before entering northern Europe, to reach the Teutonic
homeland.  Those were the days when the water bottles were
filled with beer (German, Belgian and Dutch).  After several weeks
of rest and rejuvenation with my German relatives in Cologne, I
pointed the tires north to the Arctic circle in late fall.  After road
encounters with Finnish reindeer, and weeks riding in the blue
light of shortened Scandinavian winter days, I spent the
remainder of the winter cycling through the old Soviet republics,
including Europe's last remaining dictatorship (Belarus).  The
navigation bars on the right have the full details (pictures and
narrative) from each country I visited, in the order visited.  You get
the idea, I'm sure
